The year 2016 seems to have been one of the most hated years in the past decades, and while it’s mostly to blame on the scary political climate and many celebrity deaths last year, we also got the feeling that many people were complaining about their personal year 2016. While we actually had quite a great 2016 and don’t really want to join the bashing (Maraia is furious at 2016 and will continue bashing it), there’s still one aspect of 2016 that left us a bit disappointed and that was our bookish year 2016 – sorry, 2016. “Top 10 Tuesday” is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish
It’s Freebie Tuesday this week and since we’ve talked a lot about anticipated books in 2o17 already we thought it would be a good opportunity to let the books rest for one week and talk about movies instead, so here are ten upcoming movies we’re looking forward to watch this year! (Click on the movie title to get to the movie’s IMDB page and watch the trailer) (mehr …)
One of my bookish resolutions for 2017 when it comes to blogging is to focus less on book reviews and more on other posts like regularly participating in „Top 10 Tuesday“, looking at new book releases and just in general to be a bit more creative when writing blog posts. I also want to be more active in the book blogging community and interact more with other readers and bloggers and that’s why I decided to participate in the „2017 Discussion Challenge“ for the first time this year. If we have learned one thing from science fiction movies and novels that deal with time travel then it’s the fact that it’s usually not a good idea to mess with time itself because you can never know what grave consequences only minor changes to the timeline can have. And even in Wesley Chu’s „Time Salvager“ which is set in the 26th century where time travel is nothing special anymore and in fact a basic requirement to keep mankind alive there are very strict rules concerning how to properly use time travel without setting hell loose by messing up what the author calls the „chronostream“. “Top 10 Tuesday” is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish
This week’s Top 10 Tuesday topic was a lot of fun because it gave us the chance to push some of our favorite books on you and especially those who are rather unknown or underrated and definitely deserve more attention and more bookish love. So if you haven’t read or even heard of the books listed below then you should go get them asap – they’re absolutely worth it! (mehr …)
My December book hauls are always unpredictable, not necessarily because it’s Christmas and I would get lots of bookish surprises (I usually only get books I explicitly wish for) but rather because I tend to panic buying books before the year ends so that I can at least try to stick to New Year’s resolutions without having to fail in the first weeks already 😀 (mehr …)

I think it’s safe to say that we both didn’t read as many books in 2016 as we had originally planned but of course that didn’t keep us from adding lots of new releases to our TBR or even buy them already so that we have still quite a lot to catch up on. Since a huge part of our TBRs looks exactly the same we decided to alter this week’s topic a little bit and turned „Top Ten 2016 releases we meant to read but didn’t get to (but totally plan to)“ into a post about intended buddy reads we didn’t find the time to do, that’s why there will be comments from both of us on each book on this list. Enjoy! 😉 (mehr …)
