TTT “Top 10 Tuesday” is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish

For quite a while now I’m feeling like I’m having the best TBR pile I’ve ever had because out of the 80 unread books on my shelves I want to read at least 40 right away, that’s what made it super difficult for me to pick just 10 for this week’s TTT list. My choice was not really influenced by the upcoming season because I don’t think I have any typical spring books (like cheesy romances :P) and murder knows no season anyway 😀

The Supernatural Enhancements – Edgar Cantero
I’ve been wanting to read this book since it came out in 2014 but the edition I wanted was always too expensive but recently I finally managed to get it for a cheaper price and now I’m dying to read it, especially because the story is narrated through journal entries, notes, letters and the like and I absolutely love this kind of narration.

Vicious – V.E. Schwab
Victoria Schwab and her books always seem to be all over the place when I go through my Twitter timeline and I’m having quite a bad conscience that I still haven’t read one of her works. I own „Vicious“ for more than a year now and I think it’s definitely about time to finally read it.

The Strings of Murder – Oscar de Muriel
I love crime novels that are set in the Victorian era but the main reason for why I want to read this book soon is that the second book in this series came out last month and it’s even prettier than the first one! I can’t wait to get my hands on a print copy but I forced myself to wait with the buy until I’ve read the first one 😀

Calamity – Brandon Sanderson
I loved the first two Reckoners novels „Steelheart“ and „Firefight“ so that I’m naturally dying to read the last book of this trilogy.

City of Blades – Robert Jackson Bennett
I usually don’t pre-order fantasy novels because it’s not really my favorite genre but I got the sequel to „City of Stairs“ right on the release date because I really liked reading the the first one and want to go back to the world of Robert Jackson Bennett soon.

Front Lines – Michael Grant
I originally wanted to wait a while before getting this book because I’m already in the middle of two Michael Grant series and wanted to finish the Gone series first before I start another one but I heard already so many good things about „Front Lines“ that I just couldn’t wait any longer 😀

The Ask and the Answer – Patrick Ness
I started the Chaos Walking series early this year and loved „The Knife of Never Letting Go“ and since it had quite an evil cliffhanger I want to continue this series soonish and will probably start the second book when the Chaos Walking edition of the Bookish Games is over.

The Harvest Man – Alex Grecian
The Murder Squad series is one of my favorite crime series and since the 5th book „Lost and Gone Forever“ comes out this summer I really want to catch up with this series and read the 4th book soon, especially because it’s about Jack the Ripper again.

Time Salvager – Wesley Chu
I’ve been wanting to read this book since I got it for my birthday last October but forced myself to wait for the release of the sequel so that I can binge-read and won’t give my lousy brain the opportunity to forget the story between the first and the second book 😀

A Madness So Discreet – Mindy McGinnis
This book was supposed to be one of my 2015 Halloween reads but unfortunately I didn’t manage to squeeze it in last autumn. I was thinking about waiting for this year’s Halloween season then but I’m really excited about this story and don’t want to wait much longer.

Which books are you going to read this spring?

  • What a coincidence, my spring TBR looks quite a bit like yours. 😉

If you end up reading „The Strings of Murder“ soon, you can tell me if it’s good enough to get as my May book, and if it is we can read the sequel together!

I don’t have „The Harvest Man“ checked out from the library yet, but since all 3 copies are currently available, I don’t think they’re in high demand, haha.

I think the sequel to „Time Salvager“ doesn’t come out until July, so maybe we should still wait a few months to (re)read it. 😛

    • We should read Harvest Man soon because the 5th book is coming out in a few weeks (though I guess I’ll have to wait for my matching PB copy a while longer anyway^^)! I also still need to read the short story! 😀

THE STRINGS OF MURDER will definitely be one of my next reads and I guess I’ll have to hurry a bit if you want to make this your May book 😀 What’s your April book btw?^^

      • I think we should read „Vicious“ next and then we can read „The Harvest Man“! 🙂

Haha, yes, that will be good motivation. My April book is „The Raven King.“ I’ve had it preordered for over a year, haha.

  • Vicious and A Madness So Discreet are both excellent!

    Check out my TTT.

  • „Murder knows no season“ is a really depressing way to look at life. 😀 I don’t usually pick books based on the season, either, I just read whatever appeals to me the most.

That said, I’m in the Schwab fanclub, too (well, not officially, but I love her writing). Vicious is fantastic – I was actually a bit disappointed when I heard there was going to be a sequel because I loved it as a standalone so much. She’s great at pacing and I think Vicious was one of the best novels in terms of switching storylines and timelines. So. Good.

I’ve heard really good things about the Bennett series, but I think I’ll wait until all the books are published before I begin reading it, I’m in the middle of so many series it’s embarrassing. I’m horrible at finishing them. I hope you enjoy the sequel!

Have fun with murder & mayhem!

    • Haha, I find this way to look at life rather thrilling xD

Your praise for VICIOUS makes me want to read it even more, I definitely have to pick it up soon! 😀

I’m not even sure how many books there will be in the Bennett series. I first thought it was going to be a trilogy but based on the first two books I would say that there’s almost no limit to the number of books because it feels rather like a crime series so far where there’s a new case in every book. I finished CITY OF BLADES a few days ago and it was just as great as the first one!

      Thanks, I definitely will! 😀
