When I saw the Bookish Scene: Project 52 themes for June for the first time I immediately regretted that I had already used my rainbow flag idea 2 weeks ago for „Diversity“ because it would have been perfect for this week as well. That made it pretty difficult for me to come up with an idea for this week’s theme „LGBTQ“ because this is not an aspect that influences my reading habits in any way which means I’m not explicitly seeking for LGBTQ characters when I pick the books I want to read.

So I kinda was at a loss what to do for this week’s picture and went through all my YA books to see if I own any books that would fit this theme but then I suddenly was like „Wait, doesn’t one of your all-time favorite characters qualify as LGBTQ? I think she does!“

That’s why I decided to use this week’s theme to honor the most amazing Lisbeth Salander from Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series who is not only a kick-ass hacker girl (hence the laptop in the picture :P) but fortunately for me also happens to qualify as LGBTQ – or at least as „Doesn’t Give A Fuck Just Wants To Fuck“, to say it with the words of Maraia (Yeah, you just got quoted :P) So maybe this is not the LGBTQ you expected, but Kalle-fucking-Blomkvist deal with it! 😛
BookishScene: Project 52 is a bookish Instagram challenge hosted by Joséphine (@wordrevel) and Georgie (@whatgeorgiedid), Further information can be found on both their blogs where you can also see a preview of the upcoming themes.

  • I laughed so hard when I read your caption on Instagram. xD

It was nice of you to point out the significance of the laptop in the picture, just in case anyone hasn’t read the books and misses the connection. ;P

I really hope Lagercrantz puts „Kalle-fucking-Blomkvist“ back in the next book, because Lisbeth’s relationship with Blomkvist just isn’t the same without it.
