I guess upcoming Valentine’s Day is to blame for this week’s Bookish Scene: Project 52 theme being „Heart“, so I thought it would be the perfect occasion to show you some books about a female serial killer – sorry guys, but I guess this is as romantic as it gets 😛
Chelsea Cain’s Gretchen Lowell series might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about „Heart“ but since it fits the topic so perfectly in its own weird way I just couldn’t resist picking „HEARTsick“ and „SweetHEART“ (see, lots of „Heart“!^^), the first two books in this series, for this week’s picture. Those books even have some kind of romance, even though it’s probably the most disturbing one I’ve ever encountered 😀 But who says that a female evil serial killer who has murdered more than 200 people and a detective that almost got killed by her and ended up completely broken and addicted to pain killers can’t fall in love and live happily ever after? (I have no idea if they actually will because I’ve only read the first two books so far but I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually do xD) That’s why these books where the perfect choice for me this week and I even bought some heart-shaped candy just for decoration so you definitely can’t say that I’ve missed the point 😛
BookishScene: Project 52 is a bookish Instagram challenge hosted by Joséphine (@wordrevel) and Georgie (@whatgeorgiedid), Further information can be found on both their blogs where you can also see a preview of the upcoming themes.
This week’s bookish scene topic makes me want to listen to „Be Still“ on repeat again. XD
I’m really excited to for this series. I was actually planning to start it next, but then someone wanted me to read „Six Four“… 😛
Don’t break character, you’ve got sooooo much HEEEAART XD
I really want to continue this series soon but those big trade paperbacks are so fucking expensive and I always tell myself to wait for them to get cheaper 😀
See, it’s perfect. (For everything.)
Wait for me! 😀
Then start it already! 😉
I was going to start it, but then „Der Jesus-Deal“ happened, so you can’t complain! I’m sure I’ll be caught up before you actually buy the third book, though. 😛
I haven’t heard of this series before but it sounds really interesting! That romance sounds crazy.
Well, it’s not actually a real romance but rather some kind of Stockholm syndrome relationship, I think, but it’s so much better than those cheesy love stories all the other books have 😀
