This week’s Bookish Scene: Project 52 theme is „New Beginnings“ and after doing some heavy thinking about how to turn this into a picture I decided to go back quite a few years and show you my very first book that I’ve read in a foreign language (English).

I was 12 years old when „Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire“ came out in 2000 and still remember how excited I was when my parents gave me this big book and even though I was a little bit intimidated by the 635 pages I was so happy that I could read it already months before the German edition was published. I remember spending half the reading time with Harry Potter and the other half looking up words in the dictionary but it was absolutely worth it. So this definitely was a new beginning for me because trying to read books in English opened up a whole new world to me.
BookishScene: Project 52 is a bookish Instagram challenge hosted by Joséphine (@wordrevel) and Georgie (@whatgeorgiedid), Further information can be found on both their blogs where you can also see a preview of the upcoming themes.

  • Harry is adorable! I still can’t imagine 12-year-old you being so determined to read this book that you’d spend half your time looking up words. So awesome! Did the other kids in your school also love Harry Potter? As in, could you tease them with spoilers? 😛

    • I actually can’t remember if I discussed Harry Potter with anyone at school, so I don’t think I was able to brag with knowing the latest developments already 😀

I don’t even know why I suddenly thought I could just pick a 600-pages novel as my first English book but I’m glad it worked out for me XD
