As you might have already noticed I missed out on quite a few Bookish Scene: Project 52 posts in the past weeks, meaning that I had to skip the entire month of July because I just didn’t find the time to think about ideas for my pictures. I’m definitely planning on still doing the ones I’ve missed but this might still take me a while since August has started pretty busy again already and I’m going to be on vacation soon…

But I just had to come back for this week’s Bookish Scene theme because it’s one of my favorites of the entire year so far: Olympics. I’ve been a huge fan of the Olympic games since I was a child and the first games I actually do remember were the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 when I was 9 years old. Since then I have been hooked to the TV screen whenever the Olympic rings showed up, no matter in which timezone the games took place and how late I had to stay up or how early I had to get up to watch them. When I was out of school I even used to take two whole weeks off just to watch the Olympics, that’s how far my excitement for this competition goes. It doesn’t even matter if it’s the Summer or Winter Olympics – if I can find the time I watch EVERYTHING 😀

Since I’m such a huge Olympics fan I also hoarded quite a few books about them and usually got one of the many chronicles after every Olympic games and you can see most of them in my picture for this week, next to a DVD box about the Olympic history and the soccer jersey of Team Great Britain from London 2012.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to watch a lot of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to the unfortunate time schedule for us Europeans but I’m trying to watch as much as I can, starting tonight when I’m going to stay up until 5 o’clock in the morning to watch the opening ceremony – at least I’m hoping that this plan works out 😀

What about you, are you a fan of the Olympics too or
couldn’t you care any less about the games?

BookishScene: Project 52 is a bookish Instagram challenge hosted by Joséphine (@wordrevel) and Georgie (@whatgeorgiedid), Further information can be found on both their blogs where you can also see a preview of the upcoming themes.

  • Yesss, I love the Olympics, also since I was a little kid! I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of watching. I do prefer the Winter Games, but I’m still plenty happy to watch the Summer Games. I hope you (we) get to watch as many events as possible, even with the time difference! 🙂

    • I love that this is another thing we have in common! 🙂

I like both the Summer and the Winter Games. The Summer Olympics because there are just so many events and the Winter Olympics because we Germans are more successful when it comes to skiing, biathlon etc. And I just love snow XD
